The 2005–06 season was Sport Lisboa e Benfica Benfica also contested the Supertaça for the second time in a row. Ronald Koeman replaced Giovanni Trapattoni which didn't renew his contract. Benfica started the season by winning the Supertaça for a fourth time and a first since 1989. In the Primeira Liga, Benfica ended twelve points behind the winners, and failed to retain his title, despite winning both games against them, but secured a spot in the 2006–07 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. In the Taça de Portugal they failed to reach the final, as in the two previous season's, being knock-out at home by Vitória Guimarães. Perhaps the season's biggest accomplishment was reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, before losing 2–0 on aggregate against Barcelona. In the group stage, Benfica secured a second place, throwing Manchester United out of the competition and defeating title holders Liverpool in the first knock-out stage by 3–0. At the end of the season, Ronald Koeman was let go and replaced with Fernando Santos. The poor league campaign heavily influenced this decision. ==Season summary== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「2005–06 S.L. Benfica season」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
